In what ways do you still think or act like one of Jehovah's Witnesses?
Last night, some co-workers invited me to watch Monday Night Football at a
local area bar. The usual drinking, smoking (an outdoor bar) and carrying
on were featured—including a near bar fight. All of a sudden, there were
flashback reminders. "Bad association spoils useful habits" and flashbacks
of old Watchtower study material which were mentally recalled.Does this or did this ever happen to you?
I am not sure what to make of this, and whether or not this is a protection
as we were once taught or some kind of psychological mind game that
is going on within my person. My question related to this topic is simple:
Have you ever reverted back to thinking like a Jehovah's Witnesses again?
If so, what did it mean in your particular case? This question could prove to be useful to hundreds of individuals
please expand to this discussion by adding your thoughts.Respectfully,

Comparing the Watchtower to a government
During the time in which I spent as one of Jehovah's Witnesses
the Watchtower Society would often compare itself to a theocracy.
However, over the course of time that was not my perception con-
cerning the Watchtower. What kind of government would you compare it to?
Does the Society represent a "theocracy" as they so often claim?
What kind of government regime would you liken it to?Please give some additional thought to these questions and your
reasons why?Respectfully,

Is There Anything Positive About Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ini recently went to a wedding and the father of the bride that (re)married a (worldly) man said to me, "the only thing that i can say about raising our kids as witnesses was at least they got a good foundation.
look at our kids.
they're good kids".

Yes, there are positives, for example: improved speaking ability, becoming a better reader, discipline, morality and general bible education. Respectfully, The Wanderer

Is their a religion that matches our biblical knowledge and experience?
by JH inafter spending years with the witnesses, and the knowledge we have now, is there a religion that matches our biblical knowledge and experience?.
i think that we are way beyond any religion that exists, and that's why we stay out of religion today..

The question that you pose is outstanding. Sad to say,
but when the subject of religion comes into the
conversation it raises questions, doubts and
insecurities within my person.
Perhaps, I feel this way do to the constant
propaganda of the Watchtower Society.

Questions about field service to witnesses and former witnesses alike

A question about field service
After having been a door to door preacher for 14 years there are
questions that cross my mind from time to time. For example,
according to the Bible, are individuals commissioned to preach
to the public and outside individuals? Is it a sign for true Christians
to engage in such work? Not the Watchtower's version of it
Before this thread is viciously attacked, the issue of preaching that is
being discussed is not the Watchtower's version of assisting
the United Nations and spewing their propaganda. What is being
discussed is whether or not this type of preaching work is truly
commissioned. The arrows may fly, however, try to keep an open mind on this
discussions perspective as it relates to the real commission of
the preaching work and not the Watchtower's version of it.Please write up your viewpoint for all to learn.

The Seven Christians
This past evening sitting in a restaurant there were seven christians
who were "witnessing" to me. They belonged to a non-denominational
religion and quite naturally they proclaimed to have the "truth."The urge to question them
Although, they were friendly and polite it was imperative to question
them to see how they would respond to my questions. My first
question to them was "Who was the founder of your church"?Six out of the seven were stunned by the question—because they
could not answer it. The seventh one gave a brief but weak testimony.
Thinking to myself, the word pathetic came into my mind. Why will they not do it?
Politely, I thanked them for their time and then walked away. During
the course of the conversation they had that glazed look in their eye
almost as to say "we cannot think for ourselves; our church does the
thinking for us."I could not help to think if that is how I came across as a Jehovah's
Witness? In addition, why is it that people do not look up the historicity
of their own religion. If you can share some of your input in this discussion it would be kindly
appreciated.Respectfully,

Who was Charles Taze Russell ?
There has been allot said about the life and history of
Charles Taze Russell the founder of Zion's Watchtower.
However, there are so many questions surrounding this
individual, in particular if you are or were one of Jehovah's
Witnesses.From your own perspective
As formerly mentioned, the man has a large historical
following but the questions still linger as to who he
really was?Can you give a somewhat accurate picture of Charles
Russell as to whether or not he was an honorable man
who was seeking to find God, or just another spin
doctor trying to sway the masses? Can you site
your sources?Photograph of Charles Taze Russell, 1911
This discussion maybe able to pinpoint how some of us
become caught up in the whirlwind known as the Watch-
tower Bible and Tract Society.Respectfully,

Reconnecting with your Jehovah's Witness past life
This discussion board has had a tremendous affect on my
healing process as a former Jehovah's Witness. Anyway,
it beats spending $100.00 an hour in a nut doctor's
office. However, part of my healing process will be in
meeting individuals such as myself.Meeting former Jehovah's Witnesses
It is very important for me to meet some of you in order
to put this part of my life into perspective. Can someone
suggest where former Witnesses meet? If there is a
place somewhere within the United States, the UK or
Australia sometime in May-August 2007 can someone
let me know.Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully,
